Vincent Van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of modern art. He created about 2100 works of which around 860 are oil paintings. His works included landscape, still lifes, portraits, and self-portraits. Van Gogh’s art is characterised by bold colour and dramatic brush works that contributed
to the foundation of modern art. However, he wasn’t commercially successful in his life time.
