Ethel Spowers
Ethel Spowers (1890-1947) was a pivotal artist in the emergence of modernism in Australia. She is well known for her linocuts, which contain a bright, rhythmic energy. Her art reflected the spirit of the interwar years which was progressive for its time. In the 1930’s her art was exhibited regularly in Melbourne, Sydney and London.
